A physician, midwife, or dentist (nurse practitioner) must have an appointment to the Providence Health Care Medical Staff prior to practising in a PHC hospital.
Once a practitioner is decided upon through the selection process to be a preferred candidate, an electronic application will be provided.
Find answers in the link below to common questions about completing applications in AppCentral.

Once completed, the application will be reviewed by the Head(s) of Department, the Regional Department Head(s) Credentialing Officer, and VP Medical Affairs before being recommended to the PHC Medical Advisory Committee. The Medical Advisory Committee then reviews and recommends the appointment of the practitioner to the PHC Board of Directors.
The relationship between the Board and the Medical Staff and each practitioner as a member of the Medical Staff is described in the Hospital Act Regulation.
As well as appointing practitioners to the Medical Staff, the Board also grants “privileges” or specific permission to engage in certain medical acts in the facilities. Privileges are defined in the Rules.
